Joy Episalla

Episalla’s third show, “Removed,” is a fragmentary elergy for her childhood home in Yonkers. The centerpiece, huge drab familial couch, has been elab-orately dissembled, documented, and transformed (via photomurals) into a padded cel. Elsewhere, in life-size photographs of worn carpets and walls, a furtive Rachel Whiteread-like sentimentality creeps into view. The most affecting work might be the one you’re most likely to overlook: a small video of light capering around the ceiling of an abandoned bath-room. Through March 23. (Debs, 525 W. 26th St. 643-2070.)
